India well-positioned in pharma landscape: J P Nadda

India is positioning itself as a global leader in the evolving pharmaceutical landscape, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda said at India Pharma 2026 organized by FICCI in New Delhi.

He highlighted government efforts to boost innovation, research, and value-driven growth. India continues to be known as the “pharmacy of the world,” supplying affordable generics worldwide.

Minister of state Anupriya Patel noted rising global demand for biosimilars, with the market expected to reach $75 billion by 2030. She emphasized India’s role in meeting 20% of global generic demand and 70% of vaccine needs.

The country is now shifting toward innovation-led pharma, focusing on biologics and specialty medicines, supported by policies like PLI schemes and Biopharma Shakti.
