Pharmacopoeia Commission concludes national training for ASU&H stakeholders

The Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy (PCIM&H), ministry of ayush, successfully concluded a five-day national capacity building training program for drug enforcement officers, quality control personnel, and manufacturers of ayurveda, siddha, unani, and homoeopathy (ASU&H) drugs. Held from 24 to 28 November 2025, the program aimed to strengthen national capabilities in quality assurance, standardization, and regulatory compliance.

The training combined expert lectures, demonstrations, and field visits, covering topics such as NABL accreditation, Good manufacturing oractices, pharmacognostic and phytochemical evaluation, shelf-life studies, and regulatory frameworks. 

Participants visited leading facilities, including Dr. Willmar Schwabe India Noida, and Hamdard Laboratories Ghaziabad, and received practical exposure to microbiological and pharmacological evaluation and modern instrumentation used in ASU&H quality control.

A total of 37 participants representing regulatory authorities, research councils, industries, and academic institutions attended the training. The programme enhanced their understanding of Pharmacopoeial Standards, GMP, and emerging quality testing methods in traditional medicine.

The valedictory session featured BL Mehra, chairperson, National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, as chief guest, alongside Jai Prakash (PvPI, IPC), Ravinder Singh (FSSAI), and Raman Mohan Singh, director, PCIM&H. 

The dignitaries emphasized the need for scientific validation, robust quality control, and adherence to global standards to enhance the credibility of India’s traditional medicine systems.

Participants commended the initiative for its blend of theory and hands-on learning, noting its contribution to building a strong national quality assurance framework for ASU&H drugs.
