ACG Films & Foils, part of the ACG Group, the only supplier in the world offering end-to-end manufacturing solutions for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industry, has further strengthened its global position by adding a coating line to the existing manufacturing in Brazil. According to the press statement, the production of the inputs is carried out at the ACG Films & Foils plant, located in the municipality of Cotia, in São Paulo, and the expansion of the portfolio arrives to meet growing market demand.

The company starts to manufacture a series of barrier films of Polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) layers, a polymeric material (plastic) that is very resistant, attaches to PVC blades, and barrier properties to moisture and contact with air. This type of product is mainly used in the packaging of medicines and supplements.

The new coating line increases manufacturing capacity in Brazil by 25% and is estimated to meet the demand of more than 300 industry customers throughout Latin America. “The coating line’s installation further reinforces the company’s commitment to serving customers with superior products and more efficiently,” says Executive Daniel Aymard, chief executive officer of ACG for Latin America.

Working strategically with its headquarters in India, ACG’s Films & Foils in Brazil expands its global supply capacity and is even closer to the LATAM market. “With this, ACG Films & Foils improves its local and regional logistics, since, until then, these products were imported from India and resold in Brazil,” Aymard said.

According to the company, a careful product manufacturing validation process has been painstakingly conducted to meet all regulatory requirements in the industry.

State-of-the-art polytype coating line in India

In addition, ACG Films & Foils is proud to introduce a new state-of-the-art polytype coating line at its Shirwal plant in India. The installation of the new polytype coating line is the first of its kind in Asia. The machine allows a consistent and uniform PVDC coating across the entire film giving excellent formability and machinability on high-speed blister lines.

Investments in Brazil

After acquiring the manufacturing plant of Nova Nordeplast of PVC Films in 2017, ACG has followed a series of investments in the LATAM region with the addition of Aclar Lamination in January 2018 the launch of its new capsules manufacturing in Pouso Alegre-Minas Gerais in 2019. This new addition to ACG Nova Nordeplast is a testament to ACG Group’s commitment to investment and growth in South America.

On expanding the company’s range of capabilities and commitment to the Latin American market, S R Shivshankar, chief executive officer ACG Films & Foils, said, “We are proud to be the first company in Asia to launch the Polytype coating line. With the addition of the coating line to our Brazil facility, we are now looking forward to serving our South American customers better. Both the developments aim to strengthen our capabilities to partner with our customers and offer them superior pharma packaging solutions.”
