AIG Hospitals Partners with ICMR to Advance Digital Health and Research Collaboration in India

In a significant step towards strengthening India’s healthcare research ecosystem, AIG Hospitals has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country’s premier medical research body under the Government of India.

This collaboration marks a convergence of clinical excellence and national research leadership, aimed at accelerating innovation in digital health, healthcare management, and translational medicine. By leveraging AIG Hospitals’ high-volume clinical expertise and advanced innovation platforms alongside ICMR’s extensive research network and policy influence, the partnership is poised to generate impactful, scalable solutions for India’s evolving healthcare needs.

Speaking on the occasion, D Nageshwar Reddy, chairman, AIG Hospitals, said, “At AIG, we have always believed that the future of healthcare lies in the seamless integration of clinical excellence, research, and innovation. This collaboration with ICMR is a natural extension of that vision. By combining our strengths in high-quality patient care and translational research with ICMR’s leadership in national health research, we aim to create solutions that are not only scientifically robust but also scalable and impactful for the larger population. Digital health, in particular, holds immense potential in transforming how care is delivered in India, and this partnership will help accelerate that journey while ensuring that innovation remains patient-centric.”

Under the scope of this MoU, both institutions will undertake joint research studies in key areas such as digital health, healthcare delivery models, and allied disciplines. The collaboration will also focus on co-developing grant proposals, accessing national and international funding opportunities, and facilitating the exchange of expertise, data, and scientific knowledge, while adhering to all regulatory and ethical frameworks. Importantly, the partnership will emphasize the translation of research into real-world clinical applications, ensuring that scientific discoveries lead to measurable improvements in patient outcomes.

The MoU also places strong emphasis on dissemination and outreach. Both organizations will collaborate on academic events, workshops, and knowledge-sharing platforms, while leveraging digital channels and social media to amplify the visibility and impact of research outputs. Regular review mechanisms will ensure that the collaboration remains dynamic, continuously identifying new opportunities aligned with national healthcare priorities.

Rajiv Bahl, director general, ICMR, added, “Collaborations between leading clinical institutions and national research bodies are critical to addressing the complex and evolving healthcare challenges of our country. This MoU with AIG Hospitals reflects our shared commitment to advancing research in digital health and healthcare management. By bringing together complementary strengths, we can generate high-quality evidence, foster innovation, and ensure that research outcomes are translated into tangible benefits for patients and the healthcare system. Such partnerships are essential for building a resilient, future-ready healthcare ecosystem for India.”

This partnership further reinforces AIG Hospitals’ commitment to building a comprehensive, research-driven healthcare ecosystem, where patient care, basic science, and advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence converge. As India continues to embrace digital transformation in healthcare, collaborations like this will play a pivotal role in shaping policy, improving access, and delivering equitable, high-quality care at scale.
