The government has approved two vaccines for the immunization drive against Covid-19 in India – The Serum Institute of India’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin. The initial shots in the vaccination drive would comprise of Serum Institute’s Covishield.

The immunization drive is expected to be started concurrently in states that participated in the dry run on January 2. However, many experts have questioned the approval of Covishield and Covaxin and asserted that crucial information related to the Covid-19 vaccines must be made available to the public.
