NYEMED 7560, a biocompatible synthetic hydrocarbon grease designed for electrical contacts and exposed terminals in medical devices and manufacturing equipment

FUCHS Lubricants, the world’s largest independent lubricant supplier, has introduced NYEMED 7560, a biocompatible synthetic hydrocarbon grease designed for electrical contacts and exposed terminals in medical devices and manufacturing equipment.

This medium viscosity, silica-thickened grease offers excellent heat resistance and oxidative stability for long-lasting performance in protecting and lubricating electrical components in medical devices. NYEMED 7560, an NLGI Grade 2 grease, boasts a wide temperature range from -40°C to 120°C, making it suitable for diverse medical environments.

One of the key features of NYEMED 7560 is its outstanding fretting corrosion protection, which significantly extends the life of medical device electrical connectors by preventing wear caused by micromotion. The grease also offers excellent dielectric isolation capabilities, with a high breakdown voltage of 11.2 kV, ensuring insulation from short circuits and enhancing overall system safety.

Its compatibility with common connector materials further broadens its applicability across different components in medical devices. NYEMED 7560 is biocompatible and tested to ISO 10993-5 Cytotoxicity (Direct Contact), ISO 10993-10: Skin Irritation (Direct Contact), and ISO 10993-11 Acute Systemic Toxicity (Direct Injection). Furthermore, this product is manufactured in ISO 13485:2016 certified facilities.

NYEMED 7560’s resistance to water washout makes it ideal for use in washdown environments. With only 2% water washout after 1 hour at 80°C and no corrosion after 750 hours of salt spray exposure, this grease provides superior protection against moisture ingress and corrosive elements. Its low oil separation rate of 1.5% at 100°C for 24 hours ensures that the lubricant stays in place, providing consistent, long-term protection for medical devices. Additionally, the low evaporation rate (0.3% at 100°C) minimizes loss over time, ensuring reliable performance and extended service life.

The versatility of NYEMED 7560 is evident in its wide range of applications, including electrical connectors, battery terminals, printed circuit boards, and USB connectors. This grease reduces mating force, facilitating easier assembly of connectors and improving usability during medical device installation or maintenance. Its effectiveness has been recognized across the medical industry, with specifications from leading OEMs in women’s health, urology, general surgery, and orthopedics.

NYEMED 7560 is available in various packaging options, including 30cc clear syringes and 100-gram tubes, with bulk options available, if required, to support operation from prototype to full scale production.

NYEMED 7560 addresses issues related to fretting corrosion, water intrusion, and oxidation in electrical components. Its ability to extend component life, protect against friction and wear, and maintain performance in challenging environments makes it an invaluable asset for manufacturers and maintenance professionals in medical devices, biopharmaceuticals, engineering, contract design and manufacturing, and machining industries.

Founded in 1931 as a family business in Mannheim, FUCHS is now the world’s largest independent supplier of innovative lubrication solutions, covering almost every industry and application.
