The Union Health Minister of India has felicitated and thanked the best women, Covid-19 vaccinators, on the auspicious occasion of International Women’s Day.

On International Women’s Day, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, has congratulated the superlative women, Covid-19 vaccinators, at the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare

‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’ was the current year’s International Women’s Day theme. The purpose of the event was to recognize and celebrate the tireless efforts in implementing the Covid-19 vaccination program of India successfully. In this journey, women vaccinators have been the sole harbingers of the change.

The efforts of women soldiers who contributed to the development of India’s health sector were applauded by the union health minister. According to him, this healthcare development is incomplete without women’s contribution. The most vital pillars of the health sector development are formed by the ANM and Asha workers.

The role of Asha women workers during the pandemic

Asha workers are serving the country relentlessly. They did everything by cutting through impossible terrains up to reaching the last mile. They went into every house and ensured that every eligible member was vaccinated.

It took place under the Har Ghar Dastak Campaign. The women vaccinators promoted the vaccine’s uptake and have overcome the hesitancy of the vaccine. At present, India is one of the global leaders in terms of the Covid-19 vaccination program, and it has been possible because of the untiring contribution from women.

A selfless act of women vaccinators

All women’s dedication across the country has been saluted and congratulated by Dr Mansukh Mandaviya. Right from the inauguration of the largest vaccination program in the world on 16 January 2021, India never looked back. The women vaccinators selflessly serviced the country and have managed the situation. The women Covid-19 warriors were the reason behind this historic success.

The Union Minister awarded 72 best women Covid-19 vaccinators from 36 states and Union Territories. Because of the selfless act of the women vaccinator, India has successfully managed the pandemic.

India possesses the culture and tradition of respecting women from time immemorial. Everyone has worked together to make sure that collective efforts take place to make the objective successful. According to the saying ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’, women are considered the most powerful pillars of this development ideology.

The WHO Representative for India, Dr Roderico H. Ofrin, additional secretary and managing director (NHM), DG, Director, DGHS, and several other senior delegates from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare were present in the meeting along with top-profile personalities from several states.

Contribution of women

Bharati Pravin Pawar, the State Health Union Minister, said that the drive of national Covid vaccination transformed into a ‘Jan Andolan’ because of all the relentless efforts from all women vaccinators and our Prime Minister’s vision.

Women vaccinators have remained as the pioneers of the vaccination program of India and have overcome every odd. They ensured that every citizen of the country was vaccinated.

Moreover, Rajesh Bhusan, the Union Health Secretary, talked about International Women’s Day theme this year. He said, “The theme ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’ drives every program. We all are now witnessing a shift in the paradigm in terms of development for the last eight years. Right from women’s progression to the development led by women, the priority is to achieve new heights in each sector under women’s leadership.”
